Pantone – the company known for its proprietary color system – is in the business of not only color-creating and coordinating, it has also been trying its hand at trend forecasting, as well. Ahead of the start of the Spring/Summer 2018 shows, which officially commence in Manhattan on Thursday, the New Jersey-based company compiled a list of the hues that it predicts will be the “hot” ones for designers’ Spring/Summer 2018 collections – from New York to Paris.
“The level of their expectations is increasing. The world of industrial design and product design is finally opening up to the idea of using more color. If people can see rose tones and metallics that are new, fresh and exciting in their electronics, they’re going to want to see it in shoes, accessories, clothing and fashion,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“We love the idea,” she says, “that more consumers are more color aware.” As for what those colors will be for Spring/Summer 2018: Meadowlark, Cherry Tomato, Little Boy Blue, Chile Oil, Blooming Dahlia, Pink Lavender, Arcadia, Ultra Violet, Emperador, Almost Mauve, Spring Crocus, Limepunch, Sailor Blue, Harbor Mist, Warm Sand, and Coconut Milk.
